Hello, my name is Sly. I'm a Labrador male, loyal colleague, full-time office dog and passionate snack enthusiast.
Since I started coming to this office, a lot has improved – except the snack supply. That's why I'm writing this post today. Not just for me, but on behalf of all office dogs out there. We deserve more snacks. And on a regular basis.
1. We improve the work atmosphere
I come in in the morning, wag my tail, and everyone smiles. I lie down in the middle of the hallway and everyone automatically slows down, relaxes. That's what I call positive company culture. I'm basically a living Feel-Good Manager. For that? Clearly: a snack.
2. We lower stress levels
Employees often stare at screens for a long time. Eventually they sigh heavily. Then I come along. Head on their lap, looking up – Labrador gaze activated. Heart rate drops, mood rises. I'm an anti-stress program on four paws. And honestly: that's snack-worthy.
3. We promote movement
Once around the block. Fresh air, fresh thoughts. I help people get their steps in. I'm basically a fitness tracker with fur. In return: snack.
4. We keep watch
The package delivery person comes? I bark. The trash can falls over? I bark. A colleague sneaks into the kitchen? I follow them. Safety is a top priority, even if the threat level is occasionally overestimated. Still: I'm vigilant. I deserve something for it – right: a snack.
5. We motivate the team
When I lie down in front of the keyboard, employees take a short break. When I bring a toy, they laugh. I'm there when the pressure gets too high. I remind everyone that a bit of playing and petting is sometimes more productive than 20 minutes of meetings. My contribution to team motivation? High. Snack needs? Accordingly.
6. We "dispose of" food scraps
If someone leaves their sandwich unattended, I make sure it doesn't go to waste. I consider this a form of sustainability. Food shouldn't be wasted. I help. Quite selflessly. Almost.
Conclusion
We office dogs contribute a lot to a company's success. We don't demand bonuses, titles, or our own office. We just want our commitment to be appreciated.
In the form of snacks. Regularly. At least every 30 minutes.
I'm Sly. Labrador male. Friendly, loyal, hungry. And I work hard for my snacks.
